Hanging out on the Kenai

It took so long with our slow-poke internet to get these pictures loaded that I was too pooped to write anything about them. Anyway, these pictures were taken last week when Dylan and I were hanging out with Alex and Suz on the Kenai Pennisula. It's in Southcentral Alaska just south of Anchorage. We started out with a night in Anchorage with our good friends Ben and Brandie and went to the Alaska Oceans Festival. I got my much needed fix of live music with a few bands and a solo artist. While we were in Seward we hiked the Exit Glacier, ate a Bucket of Butt (halibut), and visited the Sea Life Center. All the cool pictures of birds and sea life (minus the halibut) were taken there. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend a stop. It's without a doubt the coolest museum-type place I've ever been to. After Seward we drove to Homer to escape the rain and ended up spending most of our time there. We stayed at this rad farm complete with horses, a goose, and chickens. While were were in Homer we visited the brewery, a winery, and the biggest thing we did was go halibut fishing with a charter boat. We drove about an hour and a half out of the harbor and saw otters, seals, and tons of birds on the way. We didn't catch any monster halibut, but I did have a fish on just about the whole time. FYI--Homer is known as the Halibut capital of the world and the world record halibut is around 400 pounds. The trip left me with a huge bruise on my leg from holding the rod and reel. Eventually when I must have looked too pooped one of the guides strapped a belt on me that holds the rod. That made it a ton easier.

Take care y'all and enjoy the pictures!
