We were discussing the two letters ck today during our language arts period. When we talk about ck together we say the two letter 'k' after one short vowel (we make it into kind of a jingle.) So all the students wrote ck on their dry erase boards. Then I asked, "What letters do we need to add to make the word pluck?" Then I added to further define, "Like you might pluck the feathers off a duck." Another student supplied the plu to add to the ck. Then another student chimed in saying, "On a swan you have to use pliers."
Not only would I not be able to use that definition anywhere else, I'm sure I'll never got a response like that anywhere else but D'ham.
