Sleep

Jack's perfect mattress

We recently found out about this little device called the Angel Care Monitor (You can see it in the lower left hand corner of the picture). It's a sensor that detects movement and an alarm sounds when the baby hasn't moved for 20 seconds. It gives parents a bit of piece of mind when it comes to making sure your baby is breathing. In our case, the alarm goes off when Jack scoots off the bed. This morning the alarm sounded and we found him all swaddled in his swaddle velcro blanket perpendicular to how he was originally laid down.

We noticed that Jack seemed to wake himself up quite a bit during the night. On another person's blog I found that they had success with keeping their baby asleep using the Swaddle Me Blanket. In a normal swaddle, Jack would be out of that in a flash. With the Swaddle Me it takes him quite a bit longer. He often gets his hands out at some point but it has been helpful. There's a blanket for even squirrelier babies called the Miracle Blanket. We may have to look into that at some point as he grows and gets stronger.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jack so far. After we took off the Swaddle Me blanket Jack stretched and stretched. Imagine a big woohoo! coming out of Jack when you look at this picture.

What a great photo! Woohoo! I think he's going to be a climber with all that arm muscle! Looks like you all are having a perfect traveling tour of the midwest this summer, black hills and all! You can tell little Jack how it all started one summer with you two in a tent:) Miss you all lots!
