Denali Hwy Bike Trip

We've dubbed this trip our Denali Highway bike trip turned day trip.  We drove nine hours to get to the starting point of our trip from our house.  We had a complicated plan, a bit too complicated to write it all out here about how were going to do it all, but in a nut shell sleep evaded us on the first two nights.  Then M figured out how to get out of her bike trailer restraint while I was biking!  The first day we started off biking, after very little sleep, M was not having it riding in our bike trailer.  She screamed for the first hour and there were several times when I pulled over ready to bag it for the day.  Eventually I finally made the decision that at least M and I were turning around and going back to the van and then we'd try it again tomorrow.  As I was biking back to the van with M, it was when she tried to make her great escape.  A little unnerving to say the least when you're cruising down a two mile hill you just climbed at around 25-30 mph.  Once we got to the van, we met up with D again and can you believe that she wanted to ride with him in the Weehoo with D?!?  J decided that he wanted to read in the car so we made the kid swap.  Our little daredevil M loved riding in the open air of the Weehoo.  So it was after one more sleepless night that we bagged our trip.

The mosquitos were horrible here.  We immediately set up our bug blocker tent.  It's quite roomy and can fit nicely with room to spare over a picnic table.

Go D!
The views were amazing!!
J and D are playing Battle, a game that became an instant favorite when D's parents were here.
