We're calming ourselves down today after a rude awakening last night by the strongest earthquake we've ever felt. It made it feel so much more alarming to have it jolt you out of bed and headed for cover. Here are the details below. We're the little blue dot and the red blurb is the epicenter. Right at the start of the earthquake, I bolted out of bed before I was even awake and headed to the kids' room. J was confused and sitting up in bed. By this time it was shaking hard. Then as I was picking him up, the lights went out. I asked D in the dark if he had M. He didn't and the little bugger didn't answer right away when I called for her. A few second later I had her and we were headed downstairs and under the table. It continued to shake. We have a wind chime in our living room and it continued to make noise for quite a while. It probably only shook for a minute to two, but it was by far the longest quake we've ever been through. We're now reading that it was the biggest one ever to hit Cook Inlet.
We've spent today trying to distract ourselves. J is very scared even though we've talked about our plan and what to do. While they were playing Legos, they even incorporated earthquakes into their scenarios.
Tonight I'm sleeping upstairs. Hopefully we can get some good sleep.
