The decision has been made...we went for the Toyota Sienna. While we were up camping we found ourselves with a day in Anchorage before my parents flew in from MN. We stopped at the dealer to "look" and ended up with what we think was a pretty great deal. Originally we'd been looking at new ones, but with a little digging the woman we were working with found this gem. It's a 2012 with 6,000 miles. They also had another 2012 with 37,000 for the same amount, so we decided to take the plunge. Some of the big reasons the Sienna won out over the Outback are the following:
- Seats more people
- A bigger vehicle is safer (nasty roads and looming moose looking to cross roads in front of my car)
- When we go to Anchorage, if we'd had the Outback I think we'd still be questioning if we'd have enough room to stock up the way we do.
- When we need to replace our towing vehicle, we can get a truck instead of another suburban type vehicle. We'll just need something to tow the camper instead of seat at least 6.
It drives like a dream. There's so much room and so many little creature comforts for kids. There are built in screens to cover the windows for added sun protection, etc. Another plus was today when we were driving home I was able to change M's poopy diaper on the floor of the car and not get attacked by mosquitoes. Or if this was winter time, she wouldn't freezer her little buns off! Too bad we didn't have this rig 4 years ago.
By the way, the Swagger Wagon was a Toyota commercial from a few years ago in an attempt to make minivans cool. Cool or not, this mom is happy!
