118 miles so far

Just a few miles around this corner brought us to Grand Marais a few hours ago. We've already checked into a place for the night (yes, it's only 3 nights in and we're already opting for a motel). I took a small fall today when I was trying to get off the bike. I was almost to a complete stop and my bike shoes just would not release from the pedals and down I went. The whole fall was much scarier than the scrapes I got on my knee. I'm sure the whole sequence of events happened rather quickly, but it was all in slow motion to me. Dylan says it happens to everyone eventually. I guess it was nice that I was only going a few miles an hour instead of my maximum 30 that I got going down a hill this morning. So far things are going really well. We slept lakeside the first night and last night we camped at a hiking trail trailhead. We expect to get to Grand Portage by tomorrow and will already be in Canada the next day.

Other interesting tidbits:
1. I ran over a garter snake.
2. I'm getting pretty good at guessing what type of vehicle is coming up behind me by its sound.
3. Bike shorts are awesome on the hiny.
4. Tackling hills on a road bike is no big deal (compared to my mountain bike that I used to use on the road.)

Nice work you two!! I am so impressed. I've been thinking of you each day as I get going on things, wondering how the pedaling is going. Looking forward to more updates!

SO you are really doing it. Craziness. Don't worry about the falls. I have taken so many slow speed spills I can't even count them anymore. My advice don't try and balance at a stoplight - just unclip.

Keep us posted. You guys definitely get some badass points for this.
