Woohoo! 700 miles down

We are back in the US. Just a few hours ago we biked across the big bridge and are now hanging out in Michigan. It was pretty intense crossing the bridge. While we were biking up on the Canada side a whole stream of cars were waiting to get in. It was kind of like we were a parade and everyone was watching from their cars. On the US side we encountered the same scene. Then the big dilemma was: do we get to shimmy alongside all the motor vehicles waiting or do we have to wait. I was pretty convinced I wanted off the bridge, so we went for it. The guy at customs was quite interested in what we had been doing...not so much that we was suspicious of us, but that he was just interested. That was nice for a change. We're now planning on camping at a state park in Michigan tonight. It's hard to believe that we're 60% finished and we're no longer in Canada.

Other tidbits:
1. We met a woman running, yes running, across all of Canada for cats and dogs.
2. Most of the cyclists we meet are biking across Canada...it makes us feel pretty wimpy.
3. I got a new jersey today!
4. My cleats on the bottom of my bike shoes have worn thin. Apparently I got a cleat that's meant for road biking and not so much touring. They hardly made it to the bike shop today. I was very lucky that they had a new replacement pair in stock! Woohoo!
5. Our planned return at this point is August 1.
