J's Beach/Bus Birthday Party

We decided to hit up the beach for J's 5th birthday party.  The weather was perfect and we had planned either a brunch birthday or at the beach.  We've decided that it's too difficult to wait until an afternoon party time.  It seems like the longest day ever.  At least at the beach, we don't need to keep the house tidy.  Many of our friends couldn't make it because of state freestyle wrestling.  J was happy though.  He said he had a great time.  Check out the pictures below.

Pinterest Fail...These were far cuter on Pinterest.  J wanted a Magic School Bus themed birthday party.  I went with buses for individual cakes.  I couldn't get the frosting right, so they're only decorated on one side.  So now our kids can officially say they've had Twinkies, however, they would probably refer to them as buses.  Works for me.

We opened presents from the Gmas and Gpas and family right away this morning.  J loved all the presents, especially the Frozen book.  I wonder how many 4/5 year olds are enamored with that movie right now?!?
We got J a cool wooden tool set with a tool belt.
J got three games for his birthday.  We love Settlers of Catan and they make a kid version.  We're really excited to try this one with him.
J in his tool belt!
To the beach!  We've had amazing weather.  The temps were in the 60s and not a cloud in sight.
Kids run amok!

Let's go fly a kite!
J and M with my old jobshare partner's kids.  The boys were born 2 weeks apart and the girls were 3 weeks.
